Powerhouse musician LP, who has been a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community throughout her career, joined WTOP’s Sarah Fraser recently to discuss her upcoming concert at The Anthem in DC, her activism, and her new music.

LP, who is known for her soulful vocals and catchy melodies, has released six studio albums over the past two decades. Her latest album, Heart to Mouth, was released in 2020 and features a number of personal and introspective songs.

On her upcoming concert at The Anthem, LP said she is excited to perform for her fans in DC. “I love playing in DC,” she said. “It’s a very supportive city, and the fans are always amazing.”

LP is also a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. She has spoken out against discrimination and violence against LGBTQ+ people, and she has also used her platform to raise awareness of important issues such as mental health and suicide prevention.

“I think it’s important for artists to use their platform to speak out about important issues,” LP said. “We have a voice, and we can use it to make a difference.”

In addition to her music and activism, LP is also working on new music. She said she is currently in the early stages of writing a new album, and she is excited to share it with her fans in the near future.

“I’m always writing new music,” LP said. “I love the creative process, and I’m excited to see where my music takes me next.”
