Wizards Are Back! Selena Gomez & David Henrie Reunite for ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Sequel Pilot
Get ready for some magic, because Alex Russo and Justin Russo are coming back! Disney Channel has ordered a pilot for a sequel to the beloved series “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and Selena Gomez and David Henrie are set to reprise their roles as the Russo siblings.
The original series, which ran from 2007 to 2012, followed Alex, Justin, and their younger brother Max as they tried to keep their family’s wizarding secret while also navigating the challenges of being teenagers. The show was a huge hit with kids and tweens, and it launched Gomez’s career.
The new pilot, which is titled “Wizards of Waverly Place: Return to Waverly Place,” will pick up with Alex and Justin as adults. Alex is now a successful fashion designer, while Justin is a law school graduate. However, their lives are turned upside down when they are forced to return to Waverly Place to help their younger sister Harper (played by Peyton List) control her newly discovered magical abilities.
The pilot also stars Jake T. Austin as Max Russo, who is now a stay-at-home dad, and Noah Munck as Max’s husband, Mason. Maria Canals-Barrera will reprise her role as Theresa Russo, the Russo siblings’ mother.
The pilot is being written and executive produced by Marissa Jo Cerasoli, who was a writer and producer on the original series.
Fans are excited about the news of the sequel, and they have taken to social media to share their reactions.
