Zeke’s Back in Big D! Dallas Cowboys Reunite with Ezekiel Elliott for 2024 Season
How about them Cowboys fans?! We weren’t sure it would happen, but the stars have aligned and Ezekiel Elliott is officially returning to Dallas! That’s right, Zeke is back in a Cowboys uniform for the 2024 season.
This news comes after a whirlwind year for both Elliott and the Cowboys. After a hefty contract and some decreased production, Dallas opted to let Zeke walk in 2023. He landed in New England where he played a solid year for the Patriots, but it wasn’t quite the same. Meanwhile, the Cowboys backfield sputtered without a true featured back.
So, what sparked the reunion? Reports suggest it was a combination of factors. The Cowboys running back depth chart was thin after Tony Pollard bolted to Tennessee in free agency. Jerry Jones, never shy about expressing his admiration for Zeke, publicly acknowledged his interest in bringing him back. On Zeke’s end, a familiar environment and potentially a more complementary role in the Dallas offense might have been appealing.
Whatever the reasons, Dallas fans are celebrating the return of their franchise running back. Zeke isn’t the explosive rookie he once was, but he’s still a powerful runner with a knack for finding the end zone. His return should provide a much-needed boost to the Cowboys’ rushing attack and take some pressure off Dak Prescott.
It’ll be interesting to see how the carries are distributed between Zeke and the younger guys on the roster, but one thing’s for sure: the Dallas backfield just got a whole lot more exciting. Buckle up, Cowboys Nation, because Zeke’s back in Big D and ready to run wild!
