Liverpool Come Back to Win Europa League Opener (video)
Liverpool came from a goal down to beat LASK Linz 3-1 in their opening Europa League group stage match on Thursday evening.
The Reds were second best for much of the first half and fell behind to a Florian Flecker goal just before the break.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side turned things around after the restart, with Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott all scoring in the second half to give Liverpool a comfortable victory.
The result was a welcome return to form for Liverpool after they had drawn their last two Premier League matches. It also puts them in a strong position in Group E, with Union Saint-Gilloise and Toulouse their other opponents.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was pleased with his team’s performance, especially in the second half.
“It was a good start to the Europa League campaign,” he said. “We were not at our best in the first half, but we showed great character to come back and win the game.
“I am particularly pleased with the way we played in the second half. We created a lot of chances and scored some good goals.”
Liverpool captain James Milner was also happy with the result.
“It was a tough game, but we showed great character to come back and win,” he said. “We are all looking forward to the rest of the Europa League campaign.”
US Perspective
Liverpool’s comeback win over LASK was a welcome sight for American fans of the club. The Reds have had a mixed start to the Premier League season, but they showed that they still have the quality to compete at the highest level.
The victory will also give Liverpool a boost ahead of their next match, which is a Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday.
American midfielder Tyler Morton was named on the bench for Liverpool’s match against LASK, but he did not make it onto the field.
