Wisconsin Celebrates Teachers This Week!

Here in Wisconsin, we’re kicking off a week dedicated to our amazing educators! Dr. Jill Underly, our State Superintendent, just proclaimed May 6th through 10th, 2024 as Teacher Appreciation Week across the state.

As a parent (or maybe you’re a student yourself!), you know how much teachers impact our lives. They’re not just educators; they’re mentors, cheerleaders, and sometimes even second parents. This week is a chance to show them how much we appreciate their dedication, passion, and commitment to our kids.

Dr. Underly echoed this sentiment in her announcement. “Our teachers are the heart and soul of our education system,” she said. “The impact they have stretches far beyond classroom walls.”

They Deserve Our Thanks

Think about the teachers who’ve made a difference in your life, or your child’s life. Maybe it was a teacher who sparked a love of learning, helped you through a tough time, or simply believed in you when you doubted yourself.

This week, take a moment to express your gratitude. Here are a few ideas:

• Send a handwritten note: A heartfelt note expressing your appreciation is a timeless gesture.
• Make a donation to their classroom: Teachers often spend their own money on supplies. Help them stock up by donating to a classroom project or fund.
• Volunteer your time: Offer to help with classroom activities, chaperone a field trip, or simply lend a hand with administrative tasks.
• Publicly acknowledge their work: Nominate your favorite teacher for an award or simply give them a shoutout on social media.

More Than Just Apples

Let’s be honest, teachers deserve more than just apples this week (although, a delicious treat never hurts!). This is a time to celebrate the incredible role they play in shaping the future of our communities.
