Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones is facing allegations of assaulting the mother of his child. According to a police report, Jones allegedly assaulted the woman on November 12, 2023, at her home in Jacksonville. The woman told police that Jones pushed her to the ground and choked her. She also said that he threatened to kill her.
Jones was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and domestic violence by strangulation. He was released on bail on November 13, 2023.
The Jaguars have placed Jones on the inactive list pending the outcome of the investigation.
This is the second time in recent years that Jones has been accused of domestic violence. In 2018, he was arrested and charged with battery after allegedly assaulting a woman at a bar in Los Angeles. The charges were later dropped.
Jones is a second-year player who was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2017. He was traded to the Jaguars in 2021.
