Rapper Jeezy (real name Jay Wayne Jenkins) has filed for divorce from TV personality Jeannie Mai Jenkins after two years of marriage. Court records show the 45-year-old rapper filed the paperwork on Thursday in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia.
The couple tied the knot in March 2021 in a private ceremony in Atlanta. They had been dating for two years prior to their marriage.
In the divorce filing, Jeezy cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. He is seeking joint custody of their 1-year-old daughter, Monaco.
Mai has not yet commented on the divorce filing.
The news of Jeezy and Mai’s divorce comes as a surprise to many. The couple had always seemed happy together, and they often shared photos and videos of their relationship on social media.
However, there have been some reports that the couple had been struggling in their marriage for some time. In March 2022, Mai opened up about her struggles with postpartum depression in an interview with People magazine. She said that the depression had put a strain on her marriage.
“It’s been really hard on my marriage,” she said. “My husband is amazing, and he’s been so supportive, but it’s been really tough.”
It is unclear what the future holds for Jeezy and Mai. However, it is clear that their divorce is a difficult time for both of them.
