Tropical Storm

Hey there, Queen City comrades! Brace yourselves, because Mother Nature’s about to unleash a doozy on Charlotte. The National Weather Service is predicting a day of heavy rain, howling winds, and even the possibility of tornadoes in some spots. So, what’s a good Charlottean to do? Hunker down, sip some hot cocoa, and watch the storm rage from the comfort of your couch, of course!

But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on all the fun. Plenty of restaurants, bars, and venues are taking a rain check on business for the day, prioritizing safety over slinging drinks and serving up tunes. Here’s the lowdown on who’s calling it a night (or afternoon) so you can plan your own cozy catastrophe:

Restaurants:

  • The Fig Tree: This South End hotspot is usually buzzing, but tonight, they’re letting the fig branches sway in the wind instead.
  • Soul Gastrolounge: No soul-stirring cocktails tonight, folks. Soul is taking a breather from the storm.
  • Haymaker: This NoDa brewery is known for its lively atmosphere, but tonight, the only kegs flowing will be the ones in your rain barrel.

Bars:

  • The Blind Pig: This speakeasy usually thrives on mystery, but tonight, the only secrets are the ones the wind whispers through the trees.
  • Craft & Draft:** Sorry, beer lovers, your craft fix will have to wait. Craft & Draft is taking a temporary hiatus.
  • The Broken Spoke:** No two-steppin’ tonight, partners. The Spoke is putting on its boots for the storm.

Venues:

  • The Fillmore:** The music might be on hold, but the good vibes will keep on rockin’ inside your home this evening.
  • Comedy Zone:** No laughing fits tonight, unless you’re tickled by the sound of thunder. Comedy Zone is taking a curtain call for the day.
  • The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra:** The only crescendo you’ll hear tonight is the wind picking up. The Symphony is taking a bow for now.

Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive list, so be sure to check your favorite spots’ social media pages for updates. And remember, even though the storm might have put a damper on your evening plans, it’s a great excuse to catch up on that book you’ve been meaning to read, play some board games with your family, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet of a stormy night. So grab your favorite blanket, put on a pot of tea, and settle in for a cozy night in – Charlotte’s inclement weather can’t touch you there!

Stay safe, stay warm, and stay tuned for updates!

P.S. Don’t forget to share your storm-watching stories and photos on social media using the hashtag #CharlotteStormStaycation. Let’s show the world how we Charlotteans weather the storm in style!
